Title: Monsoon rain!
Post by: markh on June 29, 2006, 02:23:32 PM
Hopefully we will get some additional weather to post information concerning the massive amount of rain we have ahd in the Northeast recently.

The Bel Air, Maryland area has seen record amounts of rain in the past 4 days.  My weather station recorded 13 inches of rain in the past 4 days, and almost 17 inches of rain for the month of June so far!

I'm not sure that I have ever seen it rain that hard in my life, and the amount of time that it was pouring at that rate.  At one point, we picked up almost 4 inches of rain in one hour!  Many roads had to be closed due to flooding, and at times, it was difficult to drive on roads with good drainage like I-95!  I wish I could have stopped to take pictures of it when I was on I-95 driving into what looked like a black wall of water!  We didn't have all that many thunderstorms, most were just incredible downpours that were huge in size, and lasted along time.

I can't only imagine how much snow that would have been if it was winter..  :)

Anyone else have some stories concerning the recent crazy rain we have had recently, feel free to post.
